The Lord loves leftovers! It's IN the Bible.
Seriously.
Everyone knows the story of the Loaves and Fishes, right?
A little boy gives Jesus his lunch and Jesus blesses in and puts it in the hands of his disciples who pass out the equivalent of a paper bag lunch to feed 5,000 hungry men and women.
Wild right?
What a lot of people don't recall is what happens AFTER that great miracle.
Mathew 15:37
They all ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketful's of broken pieces that were left over.
I have a friend named Lisa who tours with the Renaissance Festival. She would probably agree that she is , for the most part, what the world calls a "dirty hippy". Lisa's father's quite wealthy and likes to take her to eat in fancy restaurants. She loves that and counts it a blessing. What she WON'T do, though, is leave the left overs on the table. She always takes them "to go". For whatever reason, it's been a sticking point in their relationship. Dad thinks that she is feeling lack and the dynamic has caused some guilt for my friend.
When I told her about Mathew 15:37 she had such a sense of relief. "Jesus loves leftovers!", she said.
"Yep."
Tonight we had leftovers for dinner and "They all ate and were satisfied".
